The Fall Semester is in full swing.

And still I keep referring to it as the "Spring Semester." Sometimes I just lose track of time to the point where it'd take about a year for me to be alright again. Anyway, haven't posted here in a while, but for good reasons (me thinks).

At the moment my car is on the fritz, mostly because it overheats on me all the time, AND I need an oil change. Thank god I had filled up before the overheating had re-emerged (yeah, I'm too lazy to get anything fixed, plus I'm a college student so paying for the jobs aren't exactly as simple as they might sound...though performing them would definitely be cheaper, I'm too lazy to do that as well).

Another thing I've been working on is a lot of school work. And by a lot of school work, I mean a lot of TRIGONOMETRY. Jesus Christ I've never felt so detached from a class in my life. Granted, I haven't taken a math class in about a year, so it'll take some time to actually take a class in which I get to use my fuckin brain instead of spewing whatever bullshit I can onto a paper (Like I know all you miserable little financially-stable college-goin bastards are out there). I have to say I enjoy the shit out of math though, but will NEVER take it up as a major (Plus, I'd end up being a teacher anyway; Don't have the heart for anything else in that particular subject).

Baseball is seemingly becoming a thing of the past soon as the NFL Season has kicked off...which is really just filler until the NHL Season starting on October first (Sharks @ Avs; Joe Sakic Night). Y'know, it's one thing to hate baseball (which Americans tend to do) because "nothing happens" but then to go out and enjoy a sport where there are about 5-9 seconds of shit happening and about 30 seconds after where there isn't shit going on but instant replays and shots of fans being drunk and retarded. You get all of that in baseball, BUT the pitching is constantly happening, and if you don't think nothing happens in baseball until a hit occurs, ask the poor bloke who got nailed by a foul ball because they were too busy texting. Besides that, the majority of the athletes in the NFL are fake, and seem to have forgotten their roots in the slums of wherever the fuck they came from. Sorry..I'm just a bit annoyed by the respect any seemingly arrogant NFL athlete receives for his stupidity, meanwhile the boys of the NHL (as respectful as they are) are regarded as "fags" or "glorified figure skaters" in this horribly hypocritical American society of ours.

Good...well...at least I spent my whole writer's block session writing about the NFL and NHL (Btw, welcome to San Jose, Dany Heatley..you better do some good eh? We're starving for a championship), but I guess it's time to get back to finishing the conclusion of my 500th paper on Historical philosophers...seriously, if I have to compare and contract Thomas Hobbes and John Locke again, I'm going to toss the bible at a baby.

Enjoy the arrogance; It'll be here until February.

Pale is the new "hot"

Pale really is the new "hot," based on whatever the hell girl's are screaming about when they see Robert Pattinson (Who honestly looks similar to Benicio Del Toro, except at least Benicio doesn't look like a REAL vampire). His character, Edward, in Twilight seemed to be nauseating at first glance...in fact, downright creepy.

And as the movie progresses, he's STILL creepy as fuck. I mean, unless you're into the whole "Pale guy staring at you from across the room as if he's gonna eat you" sort of thing.

And ah, yes, Bella. The girl I THOUGHT was from Ginger Snaps, but really she's just the OTHER version of Emily Perkins from that movie; Meaning she looks just as nauseated as she did in EVERY DAMN SCENE.

The movie itself was just a setup for the sequel. Something you noticed in the second movie of the Pirates of the Carribean series. So with the sequel coming out November 20th (And please. I hope to god they took more time with this one because there were times where the script seemed to disappear and a whole lot of "filler" was brought in).

Anyway, on to the more unimportant news (even though..y'know...fuck Twilight), I've seen my Giants starting to progress within the New York series, including giving Francisco Rodriguez (yeah, that guy) a loss with a Big Money Blast to left of Citi Field. Now a Lincecum start in Cincinnati against the Reds should provide a boost for the Giants, as suddenly they find themselves to be relevant in the NL West Division race, with the Dodgers having lost a tight one to the Cards in LA last night. Hopefully everything follows suit; Dodgers get swept, Rockies remain close with the Giants, and LA is finally eliminated for having a horrible BP in the end. Then we can all do this throughout the playoffs;

It's off to school time, as I'm still hoping to retrieve the Board of Governor's Fee Waiver to help me for future semesters. 26000 as my EFC? Christ, parents, you're the worst for filing together even though YOU'RE NOT TOGETHER! I NEED MONEY, STOP DOING THAT!

Enjoy your shitty movies.

The end of the Finals thing m'dear...

Yes, it's all over. I did my last exam today and I think I did pretty good. Nothing to really write home about (oh wai-) but hey, it's somethin at least. Apparently I got the full 25/25 for my newswriting/reporting article (which is unrelated to my final story from the last post; I have yet to received the final verdict on that). This all means that I have a more than likely shot at an A so clap fo meh motha fuckas.

Anyway yesterday was filled with studying for TODAY's final, which was a Political Science one and, well, I don't think I did too bad. There was one thing that bugged me about that class and the other one though. There was this girl (apparently from SDSU) who would always complain about how easy the work was and how there was too much of it. Every day an assignment was due, however, she would say "I totally didn't do it...I just didn't think it was worth my time."

Are State Kids normally this retarded? I've heard other stories about state kids but jesus christ I didn't want to believe em.

Anyway, also yesterday I took some time off to go to the Chargers practice sessions/training camp at Qualcomm stadium. I didn't realize how small football stadiums were until I got there...at least this one was. There were these two little kids sitting in front of us who kept eye-balling these girls sitting a few seats away from them. The whole time during the sessions they were taking pictures of them and trying to get their attention. The girls, by the way, had voices which resembled that of Fran Drescher (making me want to kill, of course) but eh...boys will be boys.

There was also a long ass line for the $1 hot dogs too, which my Uncle and cousin decided to stand in...which there was reportedly a lady who ordered 50 hot dogs...50 FUCKING HOT DOGS.

I doubt she stayed for the sessions. But yeah, while they were doing that, I was taking pictures of folks like LT, Shawn Merrimen, Larry English, Darren Sproles, Philip Rivers (Who threw 5 or 6 interceptions during the sessions I might add) and a bunch of other good 'uns. This may be the season...might as well take pictures of the very beginnings.

Oh yeah, and the Giants fuckin owned the Astros. I'm lovin it. Let's get a wildcard so I can cut mah hair ya meats.

LET'S GO GIGANTES! payce

By Popular Demand....

Or maybe just one person who wants to read my story on BEAT, it'll be here at the end of this little rant.

Long day, filled with last minute article work as well as a visit to a place called "Dick's" in downtown where the service was awesome, simply because it was a "who gives a shit" sort of environment. People would toss napkins all over the place, the waiters were sarcastic as fuck and bitchy to the point where you'd really think they were actually bitchy :0. Tossing napkins at people is a fun activity which should be promoted in every restaurant-such as the Olive Garden, except I'd throw their food because it's becoming a steaming pile of italian crap.

Afterward we went to a Padres game against the Braves...missed the majority of anything interesting, although Latos (pitcher for the Pads) is an interesting fellow who I see great things in the future for.

On a sad note, I did not manage to snare a foul ball but my Uncle managed to bare-hand one toward the end of the game...it was his FIRST fucking game.

Can you believe that? His first game and he snatches a foul ball out of the air bare-handed, meanwhile I've been to 20+ games and haven't gotten so much as a souvenir. Fuckin gloves are curses.

Anyway, I wanted to take a quick break from studying for my final on thursday (and my mind, because the Shock Doctrine is pretty fucked up), but I shall post the article later....okay, now :). Night all.(No headline, btw, but it's coming up RIGHT NOW):

Lurking around the corners of San Diego City College is an organization called Bringing Education and Activism Together (BEAT); a group aimed at providing a public forum for students.

Despite the organization having only started at the end of the spring semester, BEAT President Crystal Browning, Vice-President Jose Rodriguez, and BEAT member Anthony Ortiz, alongside faculty advisor Larissa Dorman, have planned a series of events for City College designed to spread the word on the purpose of BEAT.

This movement has been ignited by the organization’s current venture around the campus for their documentary–which will serve to inform the students as to what BEAT is, while asking the questions that may lead people to “question their own beliefs.”

During one of their bi-monthly meeting sessions, Dorman said the documentary is also meant to “gauge the climate of the students’ understanding of politics and how it influences our lives.”

During the test-runs for the documentary , which started early in the month, Rodriguez said that “Most of the students that we have interviewed so far have said that they would like to join a club like BEAT,” explaining that because of the diversity at City College, the interviews for the documentary can potentially offer different perspectives on issues such as Barack Obama’s presidency or campus-related items such as tuition costs.

The organization is also hosting a seven day event taking place in September at the Saville theater, which will begin on the seventeenth, called Constitution Week that will have an array of presentations, such as several speeches from historical figures as depicted by BEAT members–such as Malcolm X, Frederick Douglass, and Cesar Chavez–some political art pieces, and the idea of having bands with political music is up in the air as well.

“I guess what I am mostly afraid of,” Dorman explained, “is that the bands we
sign on to perform for our event will back down at the last minute.” Another option which Dorman made available to the members of BEAT was to show videos based on politics.

However, another conflict which BEAT members have noticed is that the number of inactive members appear to be greater than the number of active members. Ortiz has addressed this issue when asked how he would go about recruiting members by stating he “would bring up any sort of conflict within our society today and attempt to tie it in with their personal life to at least stir up some questioning within that individual.”

Rodriguez agreed with Oritz’s statement, also adding that participation in BEAT’s public demonstrations is also key to being an active member, alongside attending meetings regularly.

BEAT members are also pushing to provide a weekly public forum for open discussion on campus; thus giving the option for students present on that particular day to speak freely about any political or social issue without fear of immediate judgement from other students that are participating.

As stated on its web-site, the purpose of BEAT is to form a public forum to educate and raise awareness regarding issues related to “global citizenship” and responsibility to the City College. For more information on BEAT related activities, please contact Crystal Browning using email at obcrystal@gmail.com or Jose Rodriguez at jrodwolverine@hotmail.com.

(ENDNOTE: I thought it sucked...I really don't seem to do the organization justice. They're all a great group of kids but yeah. Fear of failure...anyway good night again).

The time is now...

For what? I'll get back to you on that.

Anyway, I like hooks..and a lot of paragraph's so bare with me here...

Today was filled with goodies like grocery shopping and a quick stop at the water lady. As well as a call from an old friend (flame? no, wasn't long enough) talking about puking and stuff but hey, anytime I can talk to her is fine by me.

Anyone really...don't have much friends down here but Kristy and Ashley, but most of the time it's school school school so yeah. Not too much hanging out going on there (which is mostly my fault, I suppose sorry beezes).

Got a call from my sister about a bunch of cops storming into my friend Ronnie's backyard as well. Apparently there was a gunman going yard to yard trying to escape the cuffs and such. However, the way the story was pitched to me was when my sister started off by saying "there was a few officers and one of them had a baseball butt and they were going into Ronnie's backyard with guns."

So yeah, baseball butts. THat's gonna be the tagline on this thing.

Almost finished with my story. I have 414 words down with about 90 words of miscellaneous information on BEAT, and if interest is there (or bored as hell and no one gives a shit anyway) then I will post it here. I have some optional briefs to do that I will more than likely post here though, so yuh).

Tomorrow, Padres game. I've missed the last few Giants games but we took 3 of 4 from the Phillies which is a boost as I said. So we'll see how tomorrow's Padres game goes. Oh yeah and tons of studying. It doesn't feel like finals week...this is gonna bite me on the ass later on though.

Cheers.

Little Man with Big Feelings

...And not the feeling of hunger, that has left me since, oh, about an hour or so ago.

Anyway, the whole day was filled with thinking, primarily, as I've hit a financial wall. The BOG (which is a fee-waiver sort of thing) will likely not cover me this semester around because my parents had earned too much LAST year (Which in itself is disgusting because that was fuckin LAST year. Totally irrelevant from the now you shits) which can also affect me not qualifying for financial aid as well. I guess it's pretty much gotten to the point that, though all this time I thought I was invincible to any sort of worry, it has struck...and struck hard. So, now, I'm gonna try and be hopeful about the whole situation and see how it plays out.

As for the Giants, well, hey they won today. Lincecum was solid and kept the Philly guns quiet while a couple of sac-hits from Uribe sealed the deal as the Giants went on to beat the defending champion Phils 2-0. I'm just glad we managed to even the series, but if we can get the win tomorrow, I'm sure it'll be a huge lift to the team.

Oh yeah but I missed that game because I was at a birthday party with my Tia and niece (as well as a few of my Tia's friends). I didn't know anyone that was there but eventually came around and started talking to a couple of people about Bruno (Or, the movie with the twirling cock). I was the ride though, so when everyone wanted to leave in the middle of my conversation, I had to oblige. The food was good though...chicken and ribs and stuff. Who doesn't like bbq?

Tomorrow begins the end of my freedom as my room will be turned over to a number of family members (including the little monster Julio, who I will most likely refer to from now on as "the devil" or "damien" so be aware) but a little family goes a long way in distracting me from my recent "tribulations" (There are far more people facing worse problems than I am so there's no point in bitching).

Will be posting soon again because I have nothing better to do. Ever get those songs instantly in your head as soon as you wake up in the morning? I got one. Sledgehammer. The bottom it is...payce

High on things

Not the drug type, no, but instead the Energy drink sort of thing. I'm seriously pulling a series of paragraphs out of my meat seat for this final story for Newswriting class that I'm doing on an organization at San Diego City College called Bringing Education and Activism Together (BEAT).

It's purpose is self-explanitory. If you can't grasp the concept of the organization from the title alone then I'll see to it that you get a swift boot out of this blog thing.

Speaking of which, why am I here? Oh yeah, Michelle made me do this thing. And since Will is doing it that's enough to persuade me to also blog stuff here and well yeah.

Anyway, I got back from a baseball game earlier and, well, I thought it'd be the same ol' Padres to start with but somehow they managed to crawl back from a 7-1 deficit to win 11-7...which is pretty insane. Either that or my niece is good luck or something, I have no idea. None of this matters because the Giants lost to the Phillies and that's all that I truly care about.

Maybe I'll post random scribbles later on this here thing, but either way here I am, and uh. Suck it. Yes. You too.
